Abstract: A self averaging type of Pitot (SAP) probe commonly known as an Annubar is used extensively for flow measurement in ducts. The probe factor depends on various, parameters like design factors, Reynolds number and upstream flow conditions. In the present study, the characteristics of an indigenously manufactured SAP probe have been studied under varying flow conditions. In particular, the effect of Reynolds number on the probe factor as well as the permanent pressure loss due to probe have been established. Further, the upstream velocity profile has been systematically varied and its effect on the probe factor has been studied.
