Abstract: Performance of wide-angled annular diffusers with equal hub and casing angles has been evaluated experimentally for changing inlet swirl in terms of diffuser performance parameters and flow development. Analyses of results show that swirl enhances the pressure recovery and helps in suppressing the flow separation on the casing for wide-angled annular diffusers. Another important phenomenon observed is the reduction in effective diffuser length for increase in inlet swirl.
