dc.description.abstractIn this paper, the influence of vibration in the horizontal plane on the phenomenon of vortexing during draining of liquid from a cylindrical container is described. The studies are carried out when vibration is imparted without and with initial rotation. Flow visualization results are presented which give a visual picture of the phenomenon. The investigation brings out that the vortexing phenomenon can be quite different from the case when the vibration occurs in the vertical plane.en_US
