Title: Migration of solid particles in the heterogeneous slurry flow through a 90° bend

Abstract: Overall concentration profiles and particle size distribution have been measured inside a 90° bend along four diametrical planes over a range of concentrations and velocities. The results illustrate the phenomena of redistribution of particles of various size fractions. The migration of larger size fractions towards the outer wall may be one of the causes of the excessive wear in bends between 0-90° on the outer surface. The phenomenon is dependent on the operating velocity, concentration and particle size distribution.
