Abstract: Oscillatory convection in an Oldroyd-Boussinesq-Ferromagnetic fluid is studied analytically considering free-free, isothermal boundaries with infinite magnetic susceptibility, The Maxwell-stress and reaction to it are assumed to relax and retard in a way similar to stress and shear in ordinary non-magnetic Oldroyd fluids, The linear stability analysis reveals the stabilizing nature of the strain retardation parameter Г2. The effect of the stress relaxation parameter Г1 and the parameters characterizing magnetization is to destabilize the system, individually and collectively, An unexpected result is observed In respect of the influence of Г1 on the critical frequency of oscillations ωc. The problem suggests a means of hastening the onset of convection.
