Abstract: Attempts have been made to dye cotton with alkaline catalase to observe if sodium sulphide can be replaced with it. It is observed that the alkaline catalase is too capable of developing comparable dyebath potential, dye receptivity on cotton, reduction bath stability as well as colourfastness of dyeings as obtained in sodium sulphide based reducing systems.
