Abstract: Local documentation lists play a useful role in the dissemination of information within an organization, and this activity is considered important in many special libraries. Provision of this service is, however, costly in personnel and resources. To give some idea of the personal requirement, the experience gained in the compilation of the Indian Science Abstracts has been detailed in this article. The three distinct steps-abstracting, indexing, and processing - have been explained.
