Abstract: Following a spectacular growth of telecommunication in India, the country is focusing on the technology to provide broadband connections to its rural areas. Broadband wireless technologies are emerging to enable this to happen. Four such technological efforts are on the horizon. The paper looks at the four initiatives and what they could deliver to Indian rural areas in the next few years.
