Abstract: The origin, growth and the mechanics of the Hungarian; current subject information' service are discussed, Though essentially the service aims to disseminate selective information keeping in view the users' needs, yet the maintenance of the users' profiles and the matching are not done mechanically as in a S.D.I. system, It is claimed that it is a 'made to measure’ activity and human intervention in the selection is necessary to ensure 'precision'.
