dc.description.abstractPetroleum industry is a complex one in its technical scientific and managerial activities. Growing inventions innovations, social and economic pressures, necessity to avoid fragmentation and waste, and challenging information technology call for a systematic and planned approach to design of an information system. Techniques and standards of planning an information system are discussed in brief. This paper deals with a system suitable for the petroleum industry excluding refining and petro-chemical aspects.en_US
