Title: Demand for information scientists in India- An analysis of advertised vacancies

Abstract: Over 400 vacancies for information scientists comprising librarians, documentalists, translators, editors, photographers, extension workers and data processing personnel, advertised in India during the period April 1977 to March 1978 have been analyzed from various angles. The distribution of posts according to fields, sectors, emoluments, levels, qualifications, experience, professional qualifications and states, and the distribution of posts in various fields according to sector, grade, experience and location have been depicted in 15 tables.
