dc.description.abstractPresents a short overview of the merging and fusing technologies of computer, communication and media that constitute together information technologies which are introducing a change in human social, economic and cultural life as fundamental as those that were brought about by the industrial revolution, The information problem is viewed with this perspective and the concept of the post-industrial society is discussed. The Indian situation is seen in this context and the problems and possibilities of using information as a national resource are focused. Suggests a national information policy to be in tune with the other national policies to evolve a total information system/network that would meet the variegated demands for information.en_US
