Title: Scattered light from beach sand and its dependence on sand properties

Abstract: The polarization spectra or light scattered from natural beach sand samples collected from different regions along the beach of Alexandria city eastward to Edku (about 50 km) have been reported. The correlation between properties such as grain size, sorting, heavy mineral, carbonate and organic compounds and the spectral polarization from 420 to 800 nm have been studied. The relation between the degree of polarization and the wavelength has been deduced. This relation depends greatly on the grain size.
