Title: Hydrogen bonding and picosecond relaxation studies of ortho-hydroxybenzaldehyde from dielectric measurements

Abstract: Molar polarization P2, Kirkwood correlation factor g, dipole moment μ, average relaxation time τo , relaxation time corresponding to overall rotation τ1 and groups rotation τ2 and dielectric free energy of activation ΔFτ0 of ortho-hydroxybenzaldehyde in dilute solutions of benzene have been calculated by measurements of the static dielectric constant at 1 MHz, the refractive index (using a sodium light ) and 9.83 GHz microwave dielectric constant at 10, 20 and 35°C. It is found that all these parameters are temperature dependent. The anomalous behaviour of g and P2 with concentration has been observed. The calculated relaxation time has been discussed in terms of molecular structure of ortho-hydroxybenzaldehyde with temperature variation.
