Abstract: The insulator-metal transition temperature TMI of the colossal magneto-resistive materials with the perovskite structure (ABO3) depends upon the tolerance factor t and the lattice distortion associated with it. In this paper we report the effect of lattice distortion on TMI by tuning the tolerance factor t through substitution of different trivalent and divalent ions at A and B sites of La2/3Ca1/3,MnO3 type colossal magneto-resistive materials. The results have been analyzed in terms of a competition between double exchange and super-exchange mechanisms.
