Abstract: Industrial cooling waters require biocide dozing in order to arrest the microbial growth and bio-fouling. Methylene-bis-thiocyanate and dibromo nitrilopropionamide are two biocides used in cooling water treatment. They pose serious threat to environmental and operating personnel and develop immunity in bacteria. In this paper, a biocide formulated from Croton seed has been tested for its efficacy in comparison with methylene-bis-thiocyanate, a common biocide.
