Abstract: The influence of an external electric field on the thermodynamics and kinetics of crystal formation in spherical droplets has been studied. A numerical analysis is performed with NaCl-water system and the strength of the electric field, which would produce an appreciable change in the nucleation process, is calculated. The changes in the case of proteins and other macromolecules are discussed.
