|Title:||Preparation of Fe3+ -doped TiO2 nanoparticles and their photocatalytic activities|
|Abstract:||Taking ferric nitrate as the precursor, Fe3+ -doped TiO2 nanoparticles have been prepared through the acid-catalyzed sol-gel method. The characteristics of obtained Fe3+ -doped TiO2 nanoparticles have been studied by XRD and TEM techniques. Illuminated with 450w high press mercury lamp (HPML) and natural sun light (NSL), photocatalytic oxidation of Acridine Orange (AO) has been investigated in the presence of the Fe3+-doped TiO2 nanoparticles whose photocatalytic activities have been evaluated. It is found that photocatalytic reactions obey first-order kinetics. TiO2 doped with 0.10% Fe3+ shows higher photoactivity. In the presence of 0.10% Fe3+-doped TiO2 nanoparticles, decolorization rate and degradation rate of AO are up to 92.32%, 97.00% respectively with HPML illumination and up to 95.50%, 97.75% respectively with NSL illumination. Fe3+-doped TiO2 nanoparticlcs provide a new approach for improving the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2.|
