Title: Nuclear matter calculations with a density dependent effective nucleon-nucleon interaction

Abstract: A density dependent nucleon- nucleon (N-N) interaction is proposed and used in the calculations of nuclear matter properties such as binding energy, compressibility and symmetry energy. The potential contains a short range density dependent delta function type term followed by an attractive Gaussian shape term. The two depth parameters of the potential have been fixed to fit the saturation properties of nuclear matter ( B.E. = 15.5 MeV per particle at kF = 1.35 fm-1). The best estimated values available in the literature for the compressibility and symmetry energy coefficient have been reproduced.
