Title: Room temperature preparation of NiFe2O4 thin films by electrochemical route

Abstract: Deposition of polycrystalline nickel iron oxide (NiFe2O4) spinel thin films on various conducting substrates has been carried out using electrochemical processes at room temperature. The electrodeposited NiFe2 alloy films, when electrochemically oxidized in 1N KOH electrolyte at room temperature, result in NiFe2O4 spinel thin films. Electrochemical deposition of NiFe2 alloy films was carried out on various conducting substrates in sulfate electrolyte. Deposition potential of NiFe2 alloy was determined from the polarization curves. The film composition was determined using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) technique. The structure of alloy and oxide films was studied using X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy techniques. Orientation along (400) NiFe2O4plane was observed for both alloy and oxide films on various substrates.
