Abstract: Computer simulation for mathematical model of a swell has been done and the reduction in the shuttle velocity by impact with swell is predicted in terms of impactal and frictional braking. Reduction of 40% in shuttle speed by swell has been obtained and it is mainly due to impacts. The moment of inertia of swell is the most important variable and an optimum value of this parameter is required for maximum shuttle speed reduction.
