Abstract: Recently, the chewing of Gutkha is increased in every age group of Indian society. It is severely affecting the youth. The nicotine content of tobacco of Gutkha is harmful for the body. This paper presents the nicotine content in six famous brands of Gutkha which were analysed by Capillary Electrophoresis (CE). CE is a relatively new technique of analysis. In this study, it was observed that CE is very much suitable technique for the determination of nicotine in Gutkha samples. It is simple and economical technique.
