Abstract: An energy model based, globally linearizing controller (EMBGLC), supported by a deterininistic filter, is presented for temperature control of an exothermic batch reactor. The deterministic filter is used to estimate the rate of heat release required for the controller . The results of the EMBGLC supported by the deterministic filter are compared with the EMBGLC based on other deterministic heat release estimators including a direct energy balance and a kinetic rate expression. The results show that the EMBGLC based on deterministic filter provides better performance for the temperature control of the exothermic batch chemical reactor.
