Abstract: The rate of visible light induced oxidation of hydrazine by peroxodisulphate in the presence of tris-(2,2´-bipyridine)-ruthenium(II) [Ru(bipy)₃²⁺] in aqueous solution is independent of the substrate concentration but increases with the intensity of light absorbed as follows: where ki is the initial rate and other the terms have their usual meaning.
