Title: One pot synthesis of some new biologically active arylfurylthiadiazolotriazinones

Abstract: 4-Amino-6-arylmethyl-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-ones 1 are condensed with 5-aryl-2-furoic acids 2 to yield 7-(5-aryl-2-furyl)-3-arylmethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolo[2,3-c]-1,2,4-triazin-4(H)-ones 3 employing phosphorus oxychloride as a cyclizing agent in one pot synthesis. Similarly, 7 -(5-aryl-2-furyl)-3-(t-butyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazolo[2,3-c]-1,2,4-triazin-4(H)-ones 5 have been synthesized. All the newly synthesized thiadiazolotriazinones 3 and 5 have been tested for their antibacterial activities against E.coli, S.aureus, P.aeruginosa and B.subtilis and their MIC values are determined. Compounds 3a-c have been found to be promising antibacterial agents.
