Abstract: The bidentate Schiff base, CINOPH, obtained from the condensation of cinnamaldehyde with 2-aminophenol undergoes facile complexation reactions to form Mˡˡ(CINOP)₂(M= Cu, Ni, Co and Zn). In these complexes coordination is through imino nitrogen (-CH=N-) and amino phenolic (-OH) oxygen as revealed by the results of their elemental analyses, spectral, magnetic and electrochemical properties and single crystal X-ray crystallographic structure analysis performed on CINOPH (monoclinic, C2/c; Z, 8) and Cu(CINOP)₂( monoclinic, C2/c; Z, 4).
