Abstract: A convenient synthesis of acenaphthylidene derivatives involving Knovenaegel type condensation of imidazolidine, oxazolidine and thiazolidine derivatives with acenaphth ylene-1,2-dione has been described. The structures of newly synthesized products have been established by spectral technique. Exclusive formation of anti-mono condensation products has been explained on the basis of semi empirical calculations.
