Abstract: [1,2-Bis(salicylideneamino)phenylene] cobalt (II) complex covalently bonded to carbamate modified silica gel support has been synthesized and it has been characterized by FTIR, EPR and cyclic voltametry. It has also been subjected to the TGA analysis for assessing the stability or the catalysis and the AAS for metal leaching before and after the reaction. The reformation reaction of n-hexane has been carried out under N2 atmosphere at moderate reaction conditions (150°C, 15 atm,6 hr) with high conversion (64%) and the GC-MS analysis showed the formation of 2-methylpentane (2-MP), 3-methylpentane (3-MP), 2,2-d imethylbutane (2,2-DMB) and 2,3-dimethylbutane (2,3-DMB). Small amount of dehydrocyclization side products are formed giving methylcyclopentane (MCP) and cyclohexane (CH).
