Abstract: -Glucose, sucrose and triphenylmethylcarbinol dithiocarbonate complexes of molybdenum(V), [Mo2OS3(glu -2CS2)).2H2O, [Mo2S4(suc-4CS2)].2H2O, and [Mo2OS3(Ph3COCS2)2].2H2O, respectively have been synthesized. The compositions are strongly influenced by the nature of xanthates and the experimental conditions of preparation. The TG-DTA data suggest the presence of lattice water. On the basis of magnetic moment and spectroscopic data, oxo or sulphido bridged structures are suggested for the molybdenum compounds.
