Title: EXAFS studies of cobalt(II) complexes with salicylic acids

Abstract: Extended X-ray absorption fine structure studies at the K-absorption edges of four complexes of cobalt(II) with salicylic acid have been carried out. The studies reveal that as the effective charge increases, there is a corresponding increase in the chemical shift values in the complexes. Further, the splitting of the principal absorption maximum in these four complexes has been correlated with the splitting of the degenerated energy levels of absorbing atom. The data have been utilised to estimate the average metalligand bond distances in these samples.
