Abstract: The title transformation is of type η2-nitrite → η1 nitrite and it occurs upon reacting carbonyl(η2-nitrito)[4-methyl-6-(N-p-tolyl-imino)phenol] bis (triphenylphosphine) ruthenium(II) with acetylene in warm CH2Cl2-MeOH medium affording carbonyl (η1-nitrito) [2- vinyl -4- methyl -6-(N-p-tolyl-imino) phenolato] bis(triphenylphosphine) ruthenium(II) in which the iminium function is involved in weak bifurcated hydrogen bonding with phenolato oxygen and a nitrite oxygen atom.
