Abstract: A simple and selective method for the conversion of hydrazones to the corresponding carbonyl compounds is described here using KMnO4-Al2O3 under solvent-free conditions. Regeneration reaction of carbonyl compounds from hydrazones takes place a room temperature in a few minutes in almost quantitative yield.
