Abstract: Pulse polarographic analysis shows that in acetonitrile medium, n-butylamine transforms organoisothiocyanates quantitatively into the corresponding thiourea derivatives which yield well-defined diffusion controlled anodic waves in the presence of aqueous sulphuric acid (pH 2-3) and potassium perchlorate (supporting electrolyte). The method has been successfully adapted for the analysis of Ditrapex, an insecticide formulation containing methyl isothiocyanate.
