Abstract: 2-Hydroxy ethyl methacrylate-co-styrene (H/S) copolymers have been prepared by free radical bulk polymerization at 70oC and their composition has been determined from their 1H NMR spectra. The reactivity ratios of H/S copolymers from Kelon Tudos and errors in Variables Method are found to be rH= 0.64 ± 0.22, rS= 0.41 ± 0.09 and rH= 0.62 , rS= 0.40, respectively. 1H and 13C{1H} NMR spectra have been analyzed with the help of distortionless enhancement by polarization transfer (DEPT), 2D heteronuclear single quantum coherence (HSQC) and 2D total correlated spectroscopy (TOCSY). The carbonyl and methyl carbon of H-unit and methine, quaternary carbon of S-unit have been assigned up to triad compositional sequence, whereas methylene carbon resonances have been assigned up to diad compositional level.
