| Abstract: | Synthesis of optically pure 2,6-dimethyl-5-hepten-1-ol (melonol) has been attempted using lipases. Among three different lipases tested, pig pancreatic lipase (PPL) is found to be suitable for transesterification of (±)-melonol to afford (R)-(+)-melonol with an enantiomeric excess of 94%. |
