Abstract: The samples Al₆₅Cu₂₀Co₁₅₋xFex (0≤x≤15), Al₆₃Cu₂₅Fe₁₂ and Al60Cu₂₀Fe₁₅Si₅ have been synthesized. Their stability and formed phases are investigated using differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The maximum stability in alloys is found when the Fermi wave vector, kF satisfies the relation KP = 2kF. Apart from this, specific range of e/a (electron per atom) and atomic size ratio of constituents also play an important role in forming the thermodynamically stable quasicrystals.
