|Abstract:||3-[2-(2-Aminocthylamino )ethylamino]propyl- (L1), 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-3,7, 10-trimethyl- (L2) 3-[2-(2-ami noethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-3-ethyl- (L3), 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino )ethylamino ]propyl-3-chloromethyl- l silatranes(L4) have been obtained in high yields from the reaction of 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethylamino] propyltrimethoxysilane1 with triethanolamine 2a, triisopropanolamine 2b, bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-hydroxybutylamine 2c or bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-hydroxyethyl -2-chloromethylamine 2d, respectively. Silatranes (L1-L4) have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Silatranes (L1-L4) act as tridentate ligands and give mononuclear metal-silatrane complexes 3a-h with Ni(II) and Co(II) halides. Silatranes coordinate through the nitrogens of one NH2 and two NH groups. All nitrogens (except silatrane moiety) are involved in coordination. All these complexes have been well characterized by IR and elemental analyses.|
