Title: H2S Removal from Biogas Using TiO2 Industry Effluent

Abstract: H2S in biogas from an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor was continuously absorbed in the biologically oxidised iron containing effluent of TiO2 industry. In the process H2S was oxidised to elemental sulphur in the solution of Fe3+ which concurrently reduced to Fe2+. The oxidation of Fe2+ to Fe3+ in TiO2 industry effluent is achieved through Thiobacillus ferrooxidans at a rate of 3g/1 h in 15g Fe2+ /1 and pH varying from 3 to 1.3. The system is found to be effective to precipitate sulphur from H2S and stable for Fe2+ oxidation in the effluent.
