Abstract: Nano particles of cerium phospho chromate (CPC) and cadmium doped cerium phospho chromate (Cd doped CPC) have been prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. The particle size and crystal structure of CPC and Cd doped CPC nano powders are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology of the sample has been studied from SEM images. The FTIR spectrum has been used to study the stretching and bending frequencies of molecular functional groups in the sample1. The absorption spectra of the sample have been recorded in the UV range. From the analysis of absorption spectra, CPC is found to have a direct band gap of 5.2 eV and Cd doped CPC have a band gap of 5.8 eV.
