Abstract: Actinorhizal genus Myrica, found in Meghalaya, India, has some dispute with respect to its classification. The present paper reviews the status of this genus. Fruits of Myrica sp. are commercially available in some parts of the country. It is a useful medicinal plant rich in vitamin C. Being actinorhizal, it is also useful in regeneration of nitrogen depleted soils.
