Abstract: Commercially available poly(vinyl chloride) have been modified with ethylene diamine to give a highly efficient reusable organocatalyst for Knoevenagel condensation in water as well as under solvent-less conditions. The reaction proceeds with high yield and high selectivity with in a short period of time.
