Title: Empirical high pressure equation of state for nano materials

Abstract: An empirical high pressure equation of state is obtained by modifying the Shanker formulation, widely used in the literature to study the thermal properties of solids. The relation is used to study the compression behaviour of carbon nanotubes (bundle and individual tube). The results obtained are compared with the available experimental data. It is found that the relation obtained in the present work gives the results which are in the better agreement with the experimental data as compared with the earlier relation. The results are reported for bundle as well as for individual carbon nanotube.
