Title: Electrochemistry of an anionic electroactive species at a negatively charged electrode

Abstract: Studies of cyclic voltammetry of [Fe(CN)6]4- at a gold electrode modified by thiocyanate under N2 atmosphere in aqueous medium in presence of KCI, NaCI and LiCI show that the alkali metal cations induce a weak and reversible adsorption of the electroactive anion on the negatively charged gold surface and the adsorbed species undergoes electron transfer. The adsorption pattern is found to follow Temkin isotherm. The standard free energies of adsorption are found to be ca. -4 kcal mol-1.
