Abstract: The decomposition of silver(I)-NTHB complex in the Triton X-100 micellar medium by cyanide ions takes place instantaneously and this has been used to develop a sensitive, convenient and rapid indirect micellar spectrophotometric method for the determination of cyanide ions. The calibration graph is linear over the range 0.10-0.90 μg/ml of cyanide. The method is relatively free from interference and satisfactorily applied for the determination of cyanide in synthetic samples with a coefficient of variation less than 1 %.
