Title: Studies of copper(I) and silver(I) complexes with arylazoimidazoles

Abstract: N(1)-Alkyl-2- (dimethylphenylazo)imidazoles (L and L' ) yield bis-chelated complexes [ML2](CIO4) (M = Cu (2,3) and Ag (4,5)). The complexes are 1:1 electrolytes in MeOH and the composition is supported by Jobs method of continuous variation and molar ratio method. The structure of ligands and complexes are established by 1H NMR spectral data and the signal pattern suggests that the chelate rings are magnetically equivalent (C2-symmetry). The redox studies have also been carried out.
