Abstract: Amberlyst-15<sup><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Regd.gif' border=0></sup> has been exploited as an efficient recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the facile synthesis of 2,3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepines in environmentally benign ionic liquids. The reaction is smooth and the products have been isolated in excellent yields.
