Abstract: <span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">High surface area <span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA;mso-char-type:symbol; mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub> has been prepared by a carbon hard template method, Wherein <img src='/image/spc_char/gamma2.gif' border=0>-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> is immersed with sucrose aqueous solution and the dried mixture thermally treated under N<sub>2</sub> flow at 450 <sup>o</sup>C to obtain the C@<img src='/image/spc_char/gamma2.gif' border=0>-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>. C@<img src='/image/spc_char/gamma2.gif' border=0>-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> can be completely transformed to C@<span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA;mso-char-type:symbol; mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub> with hydrogen fluoride at 400 <sup>o</sup>C. After the carbon template in C@<span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA;mso-char-type:symbol; mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub> is<sub> </sub>removed by high temperature combustion, a high surface area <span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA;mso-char-type:symbol; mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub> (66 m<sup>2</sup> g<sup>-1</sup>) is obtained. It is found that the fluorination process is crucial for the resulting <span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol; mso-ascii-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA; mso-char-type:symbol;mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US; mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub>. Although high fluorination temperature is favorable to the formation of <span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:Symbol;mso-ascii-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-hansi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language: EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA;mso-char-type:symbol;mso-symbol-font-family:Symbol" lang="EN-US"><img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/Alpha.gif' border=0><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US; mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="EN-US">-AlF<sub>3</sub>, it also results in the decline of surface area.<span style="font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:16.0pt;font-family:"Arial Unicode MS"; mso-ansi-language:NL;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA" lang="NL"></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>
