Abstract: An attempt has been made to modify the spindle system – drive for minimizing the energy consumption to a maximum extent without compromising on the yarn quality, production and machine performance. It is found that the novel modification reduces the pulling load imposed on a prime- mover and leads to 10.8%<sup> </sup>power saving.
