Abstract: The moisture transmission properties of a series of cotton fabrics have been investigated. Water vapour transport increases with wind velocity, irrespective of the weft count and cover factor of the woven fabrics. For the same fabric, effect of time on moisture vapour transmission behaviour is also studied. Swelling phenomena of hygroscopic fibres are found to play significant role in determining the moisture vapour transmission characteristics of cotton fabrics.
