Abstract: The reaction of alkyl cinnamates with triphenyltin hydride under radical environment in the presence of different phenols, amines and alcohols has been studied. In the presence of phenols both reduced product and hydrostannated products are obtained, and the selectivity between the two products depends on the reactivity of both the phenol and the substrate, whereas in presence of alcohols and amines, hydrostannated product is always the major in a mixture of both reduced and hydrostannated products.
